What Yacht Managers Should Ask Before an Electrical Refit

Electrical faults on board rarely announce themselves clearly. A flickering navigation light or an intermittent bilge pump can point to a dozen different root causes — and a contractor without marine-specific experience will chase the wrong one.

Before commissioning a refit, ask what standard the work will be certified to, how the contractor diagnoses intermittent faults rather than just replacing components, and who will be on the tools, not just quoting the job.

These questions have saved our clients from repeat call-outs more times than we can count.
